Jocelyn Freeman

Acrobatics Coach (AAC) | Contortion Specialist | Aerial Arts Instructor (AA) | Children's Yoga Instructor

Jocelyn Freeman is an experienced acrobatics and movement educator whose passion for athletic development, injury prevention, and safe skill progression has shaped her unique approach to coaching. Growing up on Vancouver Island, Jocelyn began her training in ballet and jazz before discovering a passion for acrobatics and contortion, dedicating more than eight years to developing advanced flexibility, strength, and acrobatic technique.

In 2019, Jocelyn was selected to represent Canada at the World Gymnaestrada in Austria, an internationally recognized event celebrating excellence in gymnastics, movement, and performance. This opportunity reflected her dedication, athletic ability, and commitment to her craft.

Athletics have always played a central role in Jocelyn’s life. She competed as a competitive swimmer for 14 years while also pursuing strength training for over 16 years, building an extensive understanding of body awareness, conditioning, and physical performance. Her passion for movement extends beyond skill development, with a particular interest in body mechanics, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. She thoughtfully incorporates these principles into every class, helping students build strength, improve mobility, and develop healthy movement patterns that support long-term athletic success.

Jocelyn expanded her coaching experience internationally after relocating to Australia, where she earned her certification as a Children’s Yoga Instructor. While living in Queensland, she taught Acrobatics at Infinity Circus, working with students of varying ages and abilities while emphasizing safe progressions, proper technique, and confidence-building.

Dedicated to educating athletes beyond simply learning tricks, Jocelyn equips her students with the knowledge and tools needed to train safely in acrobatics and contortion, placing a strong emphasis on injury prevention, body awareness, and sustainable flexibility development.

Jocelyn holds internationally recognized certifications as an Acrobatic Arts Module One Certified Instructor and an Aerial Arts Certified Lyra Hoop Instructor, ensuring her students receive high-quality instruction that follows safe, progressive teaching standards.

Phoenix Van Isle is proud to have Jocelyn on our coaching team. Her diverse athletic background, international teaching experience, technical expertise, and commitment to developing strong, healthy athletes make her an exceptional mentor who inspires students to reach their full potential with confidence and care.
