Parents and guardians play an essential role in shaping the culture of our studio. By enrolling your child at Phoenix Van Isle, you agree to uphold the following expectations and values.
Respect
Respect is the foundation of our studio community. Parents and guardians agree to:
- Treat all athletes, instructors, coaches, staff, volunteers, officials, venue staff, competition personnel, and fellow families with courtesy, kindness, and respect.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully at all times.
- Support a positive environment where every athlete feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged.
- Respect the time, expertise, and decisions of coaches and instructors.
Positive Representation
As a Phoenix Van Isle parent, you are an ambassador of our studio. Parents are expected to represent Phoenix Van Isle positively:
- At the studio
- At competitions
- At performances
- At workshops and conventions
- Within the community
- On social media
Parents agree to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the studio, its athletes, and its families.
We believe there is room for every studio and every athlete to succeed. Parents are expected to treat other studios, coaches, athletes, officials, and spectators with courtesy and professionalism at all times.
Supporting Your Athlete
Parents agree to:
- Encourage effort, growth, resilience, and confidence.
- Allow instructors and coaches to coach.
- Support their child through both successes and challenges.
- Celebrate progress rather than focusing solely on results.
- Encourage teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship.
Kindness & Studio Community
Phoenix Van Isle is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful community. Parents agree to:
- Treat every child with kindness and encouragement.
- Welcome new families into our studio community.
- Support the success of all Phoenix Van Isle athletes.
- Refrain from gossip, rumours, bullying, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or behaviour that creates division within the studio.
Communication
Healthy communication is essential to a successful studio environment. Parents agree to:
- Address questions or concerns directly with the Studio Director through the appropriate communication channels.
- Allow the studio an opportunity to investigate concerns before making assumptions or drawing conclusions.
- Avoid discussing concerns with other parents, students, or on social media in a manner that creates conflict or division.
- Communicate respectfully, even during disagreements.
Interactions with Children
The safety, emotional well-being, and comfort of every athlete is our highest priority. For this reason, parents, guardians, family members, and spectators are not permitted to discipline, coach, question, confront, correct, or otherwise engage another child unless:
- The child's parent or legal guardian is present and aware of the interaction; or
- A Phoenix Van Isle instructor or authorized staff member has approved the interaction.
Concerns involving another athlete must always be brought directly to the Studio Director or coaching staff. Parents should never attempt to resolve conflicts involving another child independently.
Competition & Venue Etiquette
When attending competitions, performances, conventions, workshops, or community events, parents are expected to represent Phoenix Van Isle with professionalism and respect. Parents agree to:
- Treat competition staff, venue staff, adjudicators, volunteers, security personnel, announcers, and event organizers with courtesy and respect.
- Follow all competition rules, venue policies, and directions provided by competition or venue staff.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship toward every athlete, coach, studio, and spectator.
- Respect backstage procedures, dressing room etiquette, and restricted areas.
Photography & Videography
Phoenix Van Isle respects the intellectual property rights of choreographers and the privacy of all athletes. Parents agree to follow all photography and recording policies established by the competition organizer or venue. Unless expressly permitted by the competition organizer:
- Photography from the audience is prohibited.
- Video recording from the audience is prohibited.
- Flash photography during performances is strictly prohibited.
- Recording from backstage, dressing rooms, wings, or other restricted areas is prohibited.
Parents are encouraged to enjoy and support performances without the use of personal recording devices. Failure to comply with competition or venue photography policies may result in disciplinary action by both the competition organizer and Phoenix Van Isle.
Social Media
Parents play an important role in protecting the reputation of our studio community. Parents agree to:
- Use social media respectfully and responsibly.
- Refrain from posting negative, defamatory, or inflammatory comments regarding athletes, families, instructors, coaches, staff, competitions, officials, or other organizations.
- Avoid participating in online gossip, bullying, arguments, or negative discussions involving Phoenix Van Isle.
- Address concerns privately through the appropriate studio channels rather than publicly.
Cooperation & Professionalism
Parents agree to:
- Support studio policies and procedures.
- Respect coaching decisions and professional judgement.
- Allow athletes to develop independence and confidence.
- Work cooperatively with studio staff to create the best possible experience for every athlete.
- Remember that all decisions are made with the safety, well-being, and success of the athletes as the highest priority.
Conflict Resolution
Phoenix Van Isle is committed to fostering a respectful, supportive, and professional environment where concerns can be addressed openly, fairly, and constructively. We recognize that questions, misunderstandings, or disagreements may occasionally arise. When they do, we ask that all families work together with us to resolve concerns in a respectful, solution-focused manner. Parents and guardians agree to:
- Bring concerns directly to the Studio Director rather than discussing them with other parents, students, or outside parties.
- Allow the Studio Director the opportunity to investigate concerns thoroughly before conclusions are drawn.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally, even during difficult conversations.
- Refrain from gossip, rumours, speculation, or conversations that may create conflict or division within the studio community.
- Avoid discussing studio concerns on social media or in public forums.
- Work collaboratively toward solutions that support the well-being of all athletes and the positive culture of Phoenix Van Isle.
Phoenix Van Isle believes that respectful communication builds trust, strengthens relationships, and creates the best possible environment for every athlete.
Resolution of Concerns
Should a concern arise, parents and guardians agree to follow the following process:
- Step 1Contact the Studio Director directly to discuss the concern.
- Step 2Allow the Studio Director a reasonable opportunity to investigate the matter and gather all relevant information.
- Step 3Work respectfully toward a resolution that supports the best interests of the athlete(s), the studio, and the Phoenix Van Isle community.
Parents agree that concerns involving another student, parent, instructor, volunteer, or staff member will not be addressed directly with that individual unless requested or facilitated by the Studio Director.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Phoenix Van Isle respects the privacy of every athlete and family. To maintain confidentiality:
- The Studio Director will not discuss another student's attendance, progress, discipline, financial account, medical information, or personal circumstances.
- Parents agree to respect the privacy of other families and understand that, while concerns will be addressed appropriately, confidentiality may prevent specific details or outcomes from being shared.
- Families are encouraged to trust that concerns are handled fairly, professionally, and with the best interests of all involved in mind.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Phoenix Van Isle is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for every athlete, family, instructor, volunteer, and staff member. Phoenix Van Isle maintains a zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that compromises the safety, well-being, or positive culture of the studio. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or retaliation.
- Verbal abuse, threats, aggressive behaviour, or inappropriate language.
- Gossip, rumours, or behaviour intended to isolate or exclude others.
- Public criticism of athletes, families, instructors, staff, competitions, officials, or other organizations.
- Disrespect toward studio staff, volunteers, venue staff, competition personnel, or other families.
- Inappropriate conduct at the studio, competitions, performances, community events, or on social media.
- Behaviour that creates a hostile, unsafe, or disruptive environment.
- Any action that damages the reputation or integrity of Phoenix Van Isle.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in:
- A verbal or written warning.
- A meeting with the Studio Director.
- Suspension from studio events, performances, or competitions.
- Removal of the athlete and/or family from Phoenix Van Isle without refund where behaviour is deemed serious or inconsistent with the values of the studio.
Director's Discretion
This Code of Conduct is intended to provide guidance regarding the values and expectations of Phoenix Van Isle. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of prohibited behaviours.
The Studio Director reserves the right to interpret and apply this Code using reasonable discretion and professional judgement. Individual circumstances may require case-by-case consideration.
All decisions made by the Studio Director are intended to protect the safety, well-being, integrity, and positive culture of Phoenix Van Isle and shall be considered final.

Our shared goal is to provide every athlete with a safe, respectful, encouraging, and drama-free environment where they can develop confidence, character, lifelong friendships, and a love for dance, acrobatics, aerial arts, and cheerleading. Every decision made by Phoenix Van Isle is guided by this commitment.

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have carefully read and understand the Phoenix Van Isle Parent & Guardian Code of Conduct.
I agree to uphold the values, expectations, and policies outlined in this document and understand that my conduct, both inside and outside the studio, reflects upon Phoenix Van Isle.
I understand that failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal from Phoenix Van Isle where appropriate.
