Our mission is to provide a safe, positive, and encouraging environment where every student can grow in confidence, develop strong technical skills, and learn valuable life lessons through dance, acrobatics, aerial arts, and cheerleading.
Every athlete contributes to the culture of our studio. By becoming a member of Phoenix Van Isle, students agree to uphold the following values and expectations.
Respect
Respect is the foundation of everything we do. Students are expected to:
- Treat instructors, coaches, teammates, volunteers, studio staff, officials, and families with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
- Listen attentively while instructors are speaking and follow directions promptly.
- Respect the studio, equipment, costumes, property, and the personal belongings of others.
- Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, and integrity in all situations.
Work Ethic
Growth comes through dedication, perseverance, and effort. Students are expected to:
- Arrive on time and prepared for every class, rehearsal, and event.
- Give their best effort regardless of the difficulty of the task.
- Accept corrections respectfully and use feedback as an opportunity to improve.
- Demonstrate commitment, accountability, and a willingness to continually learn.
Kindness & Inclusion
Phoenix Van Isle is a place where everyone belongs. Students are expected to:
- Encourage and support their teammates.
- Welcome new students and make everyone feel included.
- Celebrate the achievements and successes of others.
- Speak kindly to and about others both inside and outside the studio.
Bullying, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, gossip, exclusion, retaliation, or disrespectful behaviour — whether in person, through text messaging, online, or on social media — will not be tolerated.
Sportsmanship
Students are expected to:
- Win with humility.
- Lose with grace.
- Respect judges, officials, instructors, competitors, and volunteers.
- Celebrate effort, teamwork, and personal growth over awards and rankings.
Representation of Phoenix Van Isle
Being a member of Phoenix Van Isle is a privilege. Students represent the studio:
- At the studio
- At competitions
- At performances
- At workshops and conventions
- At school
- Within the community
- On social media
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on themselves, their teammates, their families, and Phoenix Van Isle.
Students are also expected to treat athletes, coaches, and families from other studios with kindness and respect. We believe there is room for everyone to succeed, and we choose professionalism over rivalry.
Social Media
Everything shared online becomes a reflection of both the individual and the studio. Students agree to:
- Use social media responsibly and respectfully.
- Never post hurtful, offensive, or inappropriate comments regarding teammates, coaches, staff, officials, families, competitions, or other organizations.
- Avoid participating in online gossip, bullying, arguments, or negative discussions involving Phoenix Van Isle or the dance community.
Safety
The safety of every athlete is our highest priority. Students agree to:
- Follow all instructor directions immediately.
- Never attempt skills without instructor permission or supervision.
- Report injuries, unsafe equipment, or safety concerns immediately.
- Follow all studio safety procedures for dance, acrobatics, aerial arts, and cheerleading.
Competition & Performance Conduct
When attending competitions, performances, workshops, conventions, or community events, students are expected to:
- Treat competition staff, venue staff, volunteers, judges, security personnel, and event organizers with courtesy and respect.
- Demonstrate excellent sportsmanship toward every studio and competitor.
- Follow all venue rules and competition policies.
- Remain respectful backstage, in dressing rooms, and throughout the venue.
- Support teammates by encouraging one another and contributing to a positive team atmosphere.
Students must also follow all competition photography and videography rules established by the event organizer.

Zero Tolerance Policy
Phoenix Van Isle is committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for every student, family, instructor, volunteer, and staff member. To protect the culture of our studio, Phoenix Van Isle maintains a zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that compromises the physical or emotional well-being of others or negatively impacts the studio community. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or retaliation.
- Physical or verbal abuse, threats, or aggressive behaviour.
- Gossip, rumours, or behaviour intended to isolate or exclude others.
- Dishonesty or actions that damage trust within the studio.
- Disrespect toward instructors, coaches, staff, volunteers, officials, students, or other families.
- Inappropriate conduct at the studio, competitions, performances, community events, or on social media.
- Behaviour that creates a hostile, unsafe, or disruptive environment.
- Any action that brings the reputation or integrity of Phoenix Van Isle into disrepute.
Phoenix Van Isle believes concerns should always be addressed respectfully through the appropriate communication channels. The Studio Director reserves the right to investigate any incident and determine the appropriate course of action.
Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following:
- Verbal or written warning.
- Meeting with the athlete and parent/guardian.
- Temporary suspension from classes, rehearsals, performances, competitions, or studio activities.
- Removal from a routine, team, or performance.
- Immediate dismissal from Phoenix Van Isle without refund where behaviour is deemed serious or poses a risk to the safety, well-being, or positive culture of the studio.
Director's Discretion
This Code of Conduct is intended to provide guidance regarding the values and expectations of Phoenix Van Isle. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of prohibited behaviours.
The Studio Director reserves the right to address any conduct that is inconsistent with the spirit, intent, or values of this Code of Conduct in order to protect the safety, well-being, and positive culture of the studio. The Studio Director's decisions regarding disciplinary matters and participation shall be considered final.

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understand the Phoenix Van Isle Student Code of Conduct.
I understand that my actions both inside and outside the studio reflect upon Phoenix Van Isle, and I agree to uphold these expectations with integrity, respect, and professionalism.
I understand that failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal from Phoenix Van Isle where appropriate.
